R1 – KUNG HEI HANDICAP (CLASS 5) 1200M

The vote goes to GREAT DAYS, 0-10 for Pierre Ng but well drawn and on a career low mark.

R2 – FAT CHOI HANDICAP (CLASS 5) 1400M

A chance is taken on MASTER OF LUCK, a C&D winner last season off the same mark, from the same barrier and under the same pilot, Harry Bentley. Shaping okay on his latest trial, the Burgundy gelding might have enthusiasm rekindled on his stable debut for Mark Newnham.

R3 – GOOD FORTUNE HANDICAP (CLASS 4) 1200M

MASTER MASTERMIND (Next Best) stayed on well for third under Karis Teetan last month. He ought to be wiser for that debut effort and Zac Purton takes over.

R4 – GOOD FORTUNE HANDICAP (CLASS 4) 1200M

Arguably the trickier of the two divisions with four newcomer’s in the mix. I’ll take the lightly raced, SUPER GOLDI, to regain the winning thread following a successful C&D debut.

R5 – GREAT PROFITS HANDICAP (CLASS 4) 1600M

LUCKY ETERNITY has been unfortunate not to win, having made the frame on five occasions, and particularly unlucky last time when third to Holy Lake. With Hugh Bowman suspended, Angus Chung takes over from the plum draw.

DEGAS TWELVE (Each Way) has shown a consistent level of form in four starts. He was hampered last time but stayed on strongly suggesting this mile trip will play to his strengths.

R6 – LUCKY STAR HANDICAP (CLASS 4) (1400M)

GOLDEN RISE (Best Bet) had let favourite backers down twice in four starts but it was third time lucky last month under Zac Purton. With the champ sticking, he can go back to back for John Size.

R7 – PROSPERITY HANDICAP (CLASS 3) 1200M

KA YING RISING is no ‘sure thing’ but without Wunderbar, can add to his debut win over C&D.

R8 – CHINESE NEW YEAR CUP (HANDICAP) (CLASS 1) 1400M

Small fields can throw up shocks but MUGEN is a horse on the rise and looks up to taking this off a light weight.

R9 – RED PACKET HANDICAP (CLASS 3) 1600M

HOLY LAKE has won three of his last four and can take the class rise in his stride for Francis Lui.

Another worthy of inclusion is MASTER OF FORTUNE (Each Way), a likeable, consistent type for Pierre Ng.

R10 – YUE YEE HANDICAP (CLASS 2) 1200M

GALAXY PATCH is hard to oppose. He might not be the fastest from the lids but can remain unbeaten on turf, defy a 10Ib rise and continue his relentless improvement.

At a price I’ll include WE ARE HERO (Each Way) for Manfred Man. All wins have come at the minimum trip but he hits the line strongly. It’s true the son of Headwater has never shone over C&D but from a low draw might be worth another chance under Angus Chung and there’s been signs of a return to form recently. The talented apprentice rode him to victory in a trial over this trip last month.

R11 – KUT CHEONG HANDICAP (CLASS 3) 1400M

Zac Purton wasn’t overly hard on MAGNIFICENT NINE last month when runner-up and the Toronado gelding can gain compensation.
